Georgian Black Sea Batumi port transshipped 408.848 tons of oil and oil products in January, 2012 compared to 528,769 tons transshipped in December, 2011, and 453,418 tons transshipped in January, 2011, the port told Trend via e-mail.
According to the Port, Batumi oil terminal transshipped 290,635 tons of crude oil, 60,868 tons of fuel oil and vacuum gas oil, 37,102 tons of gasoline, 10,038 tons of LPG and BBF and 10,205 tons of fuel oil in January, 2012.
The Batumi Sea Port is situated in the South-West part of the Black Sea. The territory of the port is 22.2 hectares. The number of berths hits 11. Total area of the open storage territory is 15,656 m2. In 2008 Batumi port was acquired by Kazakh KazMunaiGas.
The port told Trend earlier that more than 60 percent of oil and oil products transshipped through Batumi in 2011 were of Kazakh origin. Moreover, the port transships oil from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
