Georgia’s Former Justice Minister sentenced in absentia to two months in prison

Tbilisi city court chose a preliminary measure of restraint to former Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili in the form of two months in prison in absentia. This decision was ruled on Sunday night by the Tbilisi City Court, hearing the case filed against former minister in connection with the bankruptcy of “Kartu” Bank.

Tbilisi City Court chose a preliminary measure of restraint to former Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili in the form of two months in prison in absentia. This decision was ruled on Sunday night by the Tbilisi City Court, hearing the case filed against former minister in connection with the bankruptcy of "Kartu" Bank.

5 more senior government officials passing on the case were released on bail

A preliminary measure in the form of collateral to 30,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) was chosen for former head of Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia Jabe Ebanoidze. Officials of the agency Roman Chkhenkeli, Otaru Agladze and Mamuka Lashkhi were also released on bail of 15,000 lari, 8,000 lari 8,000 lari respectively. Former head of the National Bureau for the implementation of the Justice Ministry of the Republic Nikoloz Melia was released on bail of 25,000 lari.

The next hearing on the case will be held on March 7.
