The interrogation of the former Agriculture Minister of Georgia David Kirvalidze in the Ministry of Internal Affairs yesterday night lasted about four hours.
Later Kirvalidze said that, he was questioned as a witness in a sensational case in Georgia on corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture.
The ex-minister said that he cannot provide more detailed information on the interrogation, as the investigation on the case is not over yet.
Kirvalidze was appointed as minister after the coalition of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili came to power. He had to resign after a corruption scandal, which was related to the purchase of tractors and processing of plough-land.
The investigation states that some part of 54 million laris ($ 1 = 1.65 lari) allocated for these purposes, was embezzled by the senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture.
