Azerbaijani citizen, captain of the VOLGOBALT-227 dry-cargo ship flying under a Cambodian flag paid a fine imposed by the Coast Guard of the Border Police of Georgia.

The fine was imposed in connection with an incident involving marine pollution. The ship was detained at Poti Port's fourth berth.

The ship's captain was fined 65,000 Georgian laris ($1=1.66 lari).

The court also ordered him to repair the damage inflicted to the environment, amounting to 922 laris.

After paying the fine, the ship was granted the right of free navigation.
