Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has appointed new ambassadors to seven countries.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend today that Zurab Beridze has been appointed Georgian ambassador to Bulgaria, Konstantin Zhgenti - Georgian ambassador to Uzbekistan, Georgian ambassador to Germany - Vladimir Chanturia, Georgian ambassador to Japan - Levan Tsintsadze, Georgian ambassador to China - David Aptsiauri, Georgian ambassador to Iran - Ioseb Chakhvashvili and Georgian ambassador to Jordan - Grigol Tabatadze.

The ambassadors are appointed by the Georgian president with the government's approval, according to the law on "Diplomatic Service".

Previously, the parliament's consent was required for appointing the ambassadors.

The amendments to the law entered into force after the inauguration of incumbent Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili on Nov. 17.
