Severe hailstorm hits several villages in Georgia

A severe hailstorm caused damage to the Kodalo, Jimiti and Darchieti villages in Gurjaani district of Georgia's Kakheti region.
Orchards and annual crops there were destroyed, and vineyards were frost nipped.
The local residents said almost all sources of their income were destroyed and this year they were left without a harvest. The villagers are asking the government to help them.
Meanwhile, the Kakheti Region's Deputy Governor, Zurab Arsenishvili said the damage will be calculated in the days to come, and only after this it will be clear what kind of aid needs to be provided.
The hailstorm also hit the Sighnaghi Region on Friday, May 30, causing damage to the villages of Anaga and Vakiri.
The local residents said the hailstorm continued for about an hour.
