Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, major general Vakhtang Kapanadze believes that negotiations with various countries for the purchase of new weapon systems are a part of the military policy of the country.
The new defense minister Mindia Janelidze should continue doing so, Kapanadze told reporters Nov.17.
"We have had regular meetings and negotiations not only with the US representatives, but also with the other countries," Kapanadze said.
"The matter rests in both the different support systems and combat systems. The new minister of defense of Georgia should also continue these negotiations. This is a prerequisite of the military policy of the country," said Kapanadze.
On Nov.16, the commander of US forces in Europe confirmed the information about the negotiations on purchase of new weapons between Georgia and the United States.
