Georgia records 2 new COVID-19 cases, 10 recoveries in last 24 hours

Two new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia on July 16, reaching the overall number of 1,006 cases, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

Some 10 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of cured patients to 883. Fifteen patients died in the country so far.

Currently, 5,640 people remain in quarantine and 244 patients – under medical observation.

Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020.

The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
