Georgia reveals wine export growth dynamics in strategic markets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 18

Georgia’s wine exports amounted to $250 million in 2021, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

Some 107 million bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to 62 countries in 2021, which is the record high since the years of Georgia’s independence, the Ministry said.

The dynamics of export growth in Georgia's strategic wine export markets:

Lithuania – 45-percent increase (986,740 bottles);

Poland – 34-percent increase (7 million bottles);

China – 29-percent increase (5.9 million bottles);

Germany – 28-percent increase (892,348 bottles);

the US – 19-percent increase (1.08 million bottles);

Latvia – 19-percent increase (1.9 million bottles);

Japan – 12-percent increase (197,638 bottles);

the UK – 71-percent increase (736,391 bottles).

According to the Ministry, the National Wine Agency implements marketing measures in order to promote Georgia’s wine exports.

Georgia’s total exports of alcoholic beverages in 2021 amounted to $400 million, which is an increase of 18 percent, compared to 2020.
