The volume of remittances inflow to Georgia in January 2022 amounted to $168.8 million, which is an increase of 12.7 percent, compared to $149.7 million over the same month of 2021, Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
The same figure also increased by 34.3 percent, compared to January 2020 ($125.6 million), and by 46 percent, compared to January 2019 ($115.6 million).
Meanwhile, Italy ranked first among countries with largest amount of money transfers to Georgia in the reporting period of 2022 with $33.3 million, which is an increase of 21.9 percent, compared to $27.3 million in January 2021.
Russia is second on the list with $22.3 million of money transferred to Georgia in January 2022. However, the current figure slightly decreased by 3.4 percent, compared to $23.1 million over the same month of 2021.
The US ranked third with $20.3 million of remittances to Georgia in the reporting period of 2022 - an increase of 12.7 percent, compared to $18 million in January 2021.

Meanwhile, the volume of money outflow from Georgia in January 2022 totaled $23.3 million, which is an increase of 35.4 percent, compared to $17.2 million over the same month of 2021, and 26 percent, compared to $18.4 million over January 2020.
