Georgia's cement imports down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 21

Georgia’s imports of cement in January 2022 amounted to $2 million, which is a decrease of 42.8 percent, compared to $3.5 million over December 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of the exported cement to Georgia over the reporting period of 2022 also decreased by 40.6 percent, compared to December 2021 – from 65,511 tons to 38,858 tons.

The value of the imported cement in the reporting period of 2022 slightly increased by 5.2 percent, compared to $1.9 million January 2021, however, the volume of imports decreased by 5.7 percent (41,246 tons in January 2021).

Azerbaijan ranked first among top cement exporters to Georgia in January 2022 with $1.6 million worth of exports, followed by Turkey ($489,350).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in January 2022 totaled $778.1 million – an increase of 38.5 percent, compared to $561.7 million over January 2021, and 20.5 percent, compared to the same month of 2020 ($645.4 million).
