BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. Georgia may expect a decrease in fuel prices, the Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili said at a press conference after the government session, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to Davitashvili, the government is in constant talks with fuel importers, and is working on insuring the mechanisms to avoid further price increase.
“Today the fuel is sold via retail for peak prices. We expect that fuel purchased at a lower price may soon appear on the market,” he said.
Although, the minister noted that the government does not consider the abolition of taxes on fuel import.
As the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili said, the revenues from fuel excise and VAT have already reached 1.3 billion Georgian lari ($405.2 million), which is about 8-9 percent of the total budget revenues.
