BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. The International Labor Organization (ILO) plans to support creation of a comprehensive program for implementation of the relevant international labor standards in Georgia in the first quarter of 2022, an ILO representative told Trend.

According to the source, ILO aims at stepping-up the fight against the high incidence rate of occupational accidents and diseases in Georgia, through the alignment of national legislation and practices.

"It is important to ensure the implementation of the proper Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS) aimed at the ensuring of the safety and health of employees," said the organization.

Of particular concern is the safety and health working conditions in the mining sector, in Georgia’s region of Tkibuli, which seems to call for a comprehensive, integrated, strategic, multilateral and multidimensional just transition approach, said the organization.

"We are willing to deepen our partnership and collaboration with our constituents in Georgia, the government, workers' organizations and the employers. Through this work with our partners in Georgia our main goal is to promote OSH and employment," the ILO concluded.
