BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Georgia has implemented significant legislative reforms in order to increase the competitiveness and demand for Georgian wine in both local, and international markets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia said during the “ministerial hour” at the parliament, Trend reports via the Ministry.
A significant growth of Georgia’s wine exports is observed in strategic markets, where marketing activities have been carried out in order to promote and increase the awareness of Georgian wine, Shamugia said.
According to the minister, as a result, Georgia has reached historical record in 2021. Some 107 million bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to 62 countries.
The minister also added that Georgia managed to export more than 1 million bottles of wine to the US for the first time last year.
Meanwhile, Georgia’s wine exports in 2021 amounted to $239.2 million, which is an increase of percent, compared to 2020 ($210.3 million).
The main exports destinations in the reporting period were Russia ($130.7 million), Ukraine ($25.1 million), and China ($116.2 million).
