BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. The number of international visitors arriving in Georgia significantly increased in the first quarter of 2022, Trend reports with the reference to Geostat.

According to the report, the number of international non-resident visitors arriving in Georgia amounted to 576,500 people in the first quarter of 2022, which is 4 times more than compared to the same period of 2021 (133,000).

The main purposes for visit in the 1Q2022 were:

- Holiday, Leisure, Recreation (258,210 people);

- Visiting friends/relatives (151,740 visitors);

- Transit to other country (45,280 people);

- Business trips (39,710 visitors);

- Shopping (11,070 people);

- Health and Medical Care (3,640 visitors);

- Other (7,650 people).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s tourism revenue for 1Q2022 amounted to $582.3 million, which is almost 6 times more compared to $103.5 million in the same period of 2021.
