The German government on Monday downgraded its travel warning for Egypt in the wake of president Hosny Mubarak's resignation, specifically designating holiday areas on the Red Sea coast as safe for tourists, dpa reported.
Parliamentary State Secretary for Tourism Ernst Burgbacher spoke of a "signal for the tourism industry and travel businesses specializing in Egypt."
The Foreign Ministry had warned against trips to Cairo, Alexandria and Suez on February 3, at the height of street battles between pro- democracy protesters and Mubarak supporters.
