Egypt extends registration for November vote for second time

An Egyptian electoral commission has extended by two more days the deadline for applications from potential contenders for the country's parliamentary elections slated for November, state television reported Saturday

The extension to Monday comes in response to a request made by 16 political parties to the country's ruling military council to allow more time for registration, according to the report.

The extension is the second in one week. On October 16, the same commission extended the deadline for registration by four days, DPA reported.

Registration for the three-round elections, the first since former Egyptian president Hosny Mubarak was unseated in February, was originally set to end on October 18.
