Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri has told the People's Assembly that his government has suspended the heads of security and police investigations. Al Ahram reproted
The two men's conduct in the build up to Wednesday night's league match between Port Said side Masry and Cairo giants Ahly will be investigated.
The goverment has also accepted the resignation of the governor of Port Said, Major-General Mohamed Abdullah.
El-Ganzouri added that all Egyptian Football Association board members will be suspended and an investigation opened into why they decided to go ahead with the match in light of the likelihood of violence around it.
The prime minister announced these measures in response to the Port Said disaster on Wednesday night during his address to an emergency session of the People's Assembly. Seventy one people died in the violence, which erupted at the end of the game.
