The Yemen news agency Saba cited military sources as saying government forces had returned control of the Ad Dali province, some 80 miles north of the port city of Aden.

Aden itself was liberated in mid-July, prompting pro-government forces to focus their efforts on the southwester portion of the country, including the provinces of Taizz, Abyan and Lahij.

On Saturday, the news agency cited military sources as saying forces advanced into the province's capital of Zinjibar. Three to five UAE soldiers were reported killed in the anti-Houthi operation in the city.

Pro-Hadi forces are also advancing into Taizz, where Houthi militants began concentrating their forces after losing control of the Anad air base earlier in the week.

A Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen at Hadi's request since late March.

The conflict in Yemen has claimed the lives of at least 1,900 civilians and more than 4,000 have suffered injuries, according to the United Nations.
