( dpa )- A man who sexually abused two boys on 14 occasions was sentenced to 22 years in a Singapore prison, news reports said Thursday.
Machine operator Soh Beng Huat , 54, used promises of food and toys to lure his victims to secluded spots, and he made video recordings of the abuse several times, The Straits Times said.
He admitted having oral and anal sex with the 8-year-old boys between October 2006 and March 2007.
In sentencing Soh on Wednesday, Justice Choo Han Teck said that paedophiles with multiple offences should be punished with long jail terms.
The court heard that Soh spotted the first victim, who is mentally retarded, at a block of housing flats. After molesting him in a toilet cubicle at a swimming complex, Soh gave him ice cream and a curry puff. Soh repeated his modus operandi.
He subsequently came across a foreigner studying in a primary school. He enticed the boy to the complex by promising him toys.
The boy, accompanied by his mother, went to police on March 7.
Psychiatrist Cai Yiming told the court that the first victim could develop "increased sexualized behaviour ." The sexual values of the second may become distorted and his sense of self-worth damaged.
