( RT ) - Four children have been killed in an avalanche in the Russian republic of Tatarstan. One boy is said to be in a critical condition and medics are now fighting to save his life. The incident took place in the mountainous area of the republic.
Nine people were caught up in the accident. Two were rescued from under the snow during the first half hour. Later, the others were evacuated.
The children were skiing and sledging on the mountain slope when it was hit by the avalanche.
The hospitilised children are suffering from severe hypothermia, stress, and chest pain.
Emergency services are working at the scene.
