( dpa ) - In comments coinciding with news that the UN Security Council would meet Thursday to discuss the Kosovo issue, Kosovar Prime Minister Hashin Thaci said Wednesday that the UN no longer had any say about the future of the breakaway Serbian province.
In the capital Pristina, Thaci was reacting to the call made earlier in the day by Serbia for an emergency meeting of the Security Council on the Kosovo issue.
"The Kosovo issue has left the building of the Security Council," Thaci said.
A decision about a declaration of Kosovo's independence had been discussed with the international administrators for Kosovo and would "very quickly" be published, he added. All the preparations had been concluded and the future state already had a flag and constitution.
His remark came amid reports - not yet officially confirmed - that the Kosovo parliament would declared independence on Sunday or Monday.
Almost simultaneous with Thaci's remarks was the news from New York that the UN Security Council had set a meeting on Thursday to hear Serbia's plea against Kosovo declaring its independence. Serbian Foriegn Minister Vuk Jeremic is to address the 15-nation council
