Win for Tande as sprint title goes to Ackermann

( dpa )- Overall World Cup winner Ronny Ackermann of Germany Sunday claimed the sprint title after finishing 17th in the Nordic combined sprint event over 7.5 kilometres in Oslo.

After the last event of the season, Ackermann finished on 511 points in the sprint standings, with Jason Lamy Chappuis of France on 504 and Bernhard Gruber of Austria on 497.

Petter Tande of Norway was the day's winner in a photo finish with Mario Stecher of Austria, with Gruber third.

Tande posted 20 minutes 43.2 seconds (119.2 points/20:18.2) to edge Stecher (118.2/20:14.3) by 0.1 seconds.

The final World Cup standings after 20 events sees Ackermann on 1,174 points, with Tande second on 978 and Bill Demong of the United States third on 902.
