Zenit St Petersburg make UEFA Cup semis

(dpa) - Zenit St Petersburg comfortably moved into the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup for the first time Thursday despite going down 1-0 at home to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

Dmitriy Bulykin scored the only goal of the game for Leverkusen after 18 minutes, heading Gonzalo Castro's cross past Vyacheslav Malafeev, but the Russians held a commanding 4-1 lead from the first leg and so progress 4-2 on aggregate.
