Spanish Ace Dani Sordo outwitted his teammate French driver Sebastien Loeb and won the first leg of Jordans International Rally on Friday, dpa reported.
Contrary to initial expectations, Sordo ranked first with a 1.1 second win over Sebastien as he covered eight phases of 115.18 kilometers in 1:16:53:07 hour.
Forty-two Arab and International drivers from 13 countries are vying to win the Jordanian leg, the first such tour in the Middle East in 32 years.
The drivers have to cover 359.26 kilometres, divided into 22 rounds over three days in rugged terrains overlooking the Dead Sea, one of the lowest spots on earth.
