Summer thunderstorms Wednesday in Germany killed two people and traffic was snarled by torrential rain, local flash floods
and falling trees.
Near the western city of Mainz, a worker was found dead in a vineyard,
apparently after being hit by lightning, and a 19-year-old driver was killed
when her car skidded into the path of a truck during a cloudburst.
In the eastern state of Saxony, trees were blown over and flying branches
damaged electrical wires and cars. A small tornado near Chemnitz ripped the roof off an empty building, dpa reported.
