Nine people were injured in a shootout late Thursday in Macedonia, police said Friday.

The gunfight took place in Radusa, a village near Skopje, the capital city of Macedonia, according to local media reports.

Five men armed with hunting rifles, pistols and automatic guns shot at a man in front of a teahouse, injuring him and seven other bystanders, the Xinhua news agency reported.

One of the attackers was also wounded in the shooting.

It was reported that supporters of rival ethnic Albanian political parties took part in the shooting. Ethnic Albanians account for a quarter of Macedonia's population of 2.1 million.

The two parties - the Democratic Union for Integration and the Democratic Party of Albanians -- have been at each other's throats since Macedonia's June 1 early elections marred by irregularities and violence.

The two have been jostling for the opportunity to be invited into the coalition government of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

Police said they know the identity of the attackers and were searching for them.
