Recuperating pop star Britney Spears is aiming for another
comeback.
According to her music label Jive Records, Spears, 26, is working on a new
album this summer with a coterie of unnamed producers.
The album will be a follow-up to her last release Blackout, which briefly hit
number two on the US charts when it was released in November but quickly
plummeted when the initial flash of curiosity faded.
According to a statement from Jive Records and Spears' manager Larry Rudolph,
the singer "is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a
brand-new album."
"She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters, and
we're very excited about what she's accomplished so far. No album release date
has been confirmed yet," the statement said.
News of the new album comes as Spears appears to be making progress following a
protracted period of erratic behaviour sparked by the breakup of her marriage
to former backup dancer Kevin Federline.
A California court had revoked her visitation rights to the couple's two
children but recently reinstated them following the appointment of Spears'
father as conservator of her affairs, dpa
reported.
