Brazilian musician Gilberto Gil is stepping down as his country's culture minister, the AP reported.
The 66-year old musician says he wants to "dedicate more time to my artistic activities and to my family."
Gil says he tendered his resignation Wednesday afternoon to President Luiz Inacio Lula, "and he accepted it."
