Malaysia's highest court dismissed an appeal by two Nigerian nationals on death row for their role in a gruesome triple-murder case 11 years ago, news reports said Saturday.

The Federal Court in the capital Kuala Lumpur ruled Friday that there was no weakness in the evidence and case against 38-year-old Erivesto Anderson and 37-year-old Michael Philip, the official Bernama news agency said.

The duo, along with another fellow Nigerian Lawrence Osayi Irabor, were sentenced to death by the Kuala Lumpur High Court in 2000 after they were found guilty of slashing three family members to death while robbing a watch shop in 1997, reported dpa.

Osayi was later acquitted and discharged upon appeal.

Chief Judge of Malaya Alauddin Mohamad Sheriff said Friday that blood from the victims had been discovered on the clothing of both the accused, adding that police had later recovered watches and money in various denominations in their apartment.

He said that in the court's opinion, there was no doubt about the accuracy of the identification of the two accused in the crime.

Malaysia's laws prescribe the death sentence for crimes such as trafficking and possession of most types of drugs, murder, possession of firearms and treason.
