A female suicide bomber detonated her explosives vest near a police station in the Iraqi city of Baquba Monday, security sources in Diyala province reported, killing four policemen and wounding 14 as well as two civilians, dpa reported.
Security sources had earlier reported the bombing of a public transport vehicle in the Wajihiya area of Muqdadiya district, some 45 kilometres north-east of Baquba, killing five women and three men.
Iraqi security forces launched last month a wide-scale crackdown codenamed Bashaer al-Kheir, or the Promise of Good, in Diyala, one of the most volatile regions in Iraq, with the aim of terminating armed activities there believed to be operated by al-Qaeda.
Separately, a US soldier and four civilians were killed in a double-bombing attack in the northern Baghdad area of Tarmiyah on Sunday, the US military said in a statement Monday.
