A Pakistani court has found an American citizen guilty of illegally trying to enter the country's tribal region near the border with Afghanistan, the State Department told CNN Monday.
Last week CNN reported the American man, believed to be in his 20s, was charged with illegal entry and illegal possession of a weapon after his arrest for failing to have a required permit for entering tribal-administered areas.
Deputy State Department spokesman Robert Wood told CNN that a Pakistani court found him guilty on those charges Friday. The court on Sunday denied his request for bail and scheduled his sentencing for November 3, Wood said.
