Setting up the United Regional Air Defence System of Belarus and Russia will become an important step in the development of the mutual relations between the two countries, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives' Permanent Commission for National Security Ignaty Misuragin told BelTA.
According to him, the implementation of the agreement on joint defence of the external air space border of the Union State and on setting up the united regional air defence system of Belarus and Russia will enhance the defensive capability of the two countries and add additional impetus to the mutual relations. "It is quite a serious step aiming further cooperation in the interests of the two countries," the deputy said.
The formation of the United Regional Air Defence System is very important for the Armed Forces of Belarus as the matter concerns the unified training system for the military personnel. "It is also significant, and I hope, that Belarusian Armed Forces will be provided with new military equipment," Ignaty Misuragin added.
The agreement on joint defence of the external air space border of the Union State and on setting up the united regional air defence system of Belarus and Russia was inked in Moscow on February 3, 2009 after the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.
