Kyrgyzstan's border service confirms that Uzbekistan constructs fences at state border

Kyrgyz border service confirms information that Uzbek side began to construct fences and trenches at state border unilaterally.

Information agency Fergana.ru said with reference to Ozodlik radio (Uzbek service of Freedom Radio) on June 9 that Uzbekistan fences parts of Andizhan region bordering with Kyrgyzstan by trenches 3 meters depth and width.

Uzbek side began to fence Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border without any warnings and agreements, 24.kg information agency said in staff of Kyrgyz border service.

According to Kyrgyz border service, operations continue in Suzak, Aksiy and Noakat regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyz border service expresses anxiety by actions of neighboring state.

"There are obligations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as well as several un-cancelled inter-state documents. None of sides can take measures, including construction or fencing till delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. We obliged to tell that official Tashkent violates agreements adopted earlier," Kyrgyz border service said.

Digging of trenches began after events of May 25, Russian information agency said.

Bloc post was attacked in Hanabad of Andizhan region on May 26. According to Uzbek authorities, bandits penetrated region from Kyrgyzstan. But Kyrgyz side denied this version.

Ditches are dig by excavators, witnesses said. Representatives of region administration head this work but not frontier guards. According to unconfirmed information, all line of Andizhan region bordering with Kyrgyzstan will be surrounded by ditches. All this is done to exclude an opportunity of illegal transition of border, source of radio station said.
