Roughly 400 Iranian-Americans gathered in front of the Iranian Interests Section Sunday to protest the election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad despite Grand Ayatollah Ali-Khamenei's call to end such demonstrations, CNN reported.

The protesters, dressed in the colors of the Iranian flag, waved signs and chanted slogans such as, "Down with the dictator," "Democracy for Iran," and "Where's my vote?"

The crowd, which included people of all ages, demonstrated non-violently, flashing peace signs as passing cars honked horns and drivers called out in solidarity.

Yet reminders of the violence in Iran were still evident, depicted in images of injured and bleeding protesters on signs some demonstrators carried.

Later the crowd marched nearly half a mile to the Russian Embassy, protesting against the country which was the first to congratulate Ahmadinejad on his disputed election win.
