A Eurostar train travelling from Paris to London with 750 passengers on board broke down due to "technical problems" near Ashford, southern Britain, late Sunday, the Channel tunnel train operator said, dpa reported.
Eurostar said the passengers would be transferred to a rescue train and taken to London, about 30 minutes away.
A stranded passenger told the BBC that the train had lost all power just outside Ashford, and those on board waited for one-and-a- half hours to be carried on a replacement train.
Eurostar, which runs a high-speed link through the Channel tunnel between London, Paris and Brussels, was badly hit by the breakdown of several trains in the tunnel in freezing conditions before Christmas.
A recent independent report blamed poor maintenance for the trains' failure to adapt to sharp temperature fluctuations inside and outside the tunnel.
