Six people were reported dead and up to 20 injured Monday after an overnight collision between a tourist bus and two trucks near the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Six people were reported dead and up to 20 injured Monday after an overnight collision between a tourist bus and two trucks near the Austrian capital of Vienna, DPA reported.

The nationality of the victims remained unclear. While the tour bus was reportedly German-owned, it was believed to have been en route from Kosovo.

Some of the passengers were Serbians, hospital staff told the German Press Agency dpa. Police would not release information on the identities of the victims.

Seven of the injured were said to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The two trucks were registered in Romania and Slovakia. No details could be confirmed about how the accident happened. Unconfirmed reports have stated that four of the dead were on the bus, which was reportedly carrying 38 passengers. Police have confirmed that one of the truck drivers is among the dead.

Rescue efforts were underway.
