Police in Honduras Wednesday seized three tonnes of cocaine, according to government security officials, dpa reported.
Leonel Sauceda, spokesman for the security ministry, said it was the largest drug seizure in years in the Central American country. The US Coast Guard helped in the capture of the drugs and two Hondurans, who were in a speed boat in international waters off the Honduran coast.
The origin and destination of the drugs were not identified. Central America is the major route for drugs from Colombia to the United States, with dealers using sea, land and air routes.
