NATO-led forces during an operation against Taliban militants eliminated eight fighters in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province Wednesday night, spokesman for the alliance in the province Wessel said Thursday, Xinhua reported.
"The operation conducted in Sarak-e-Bala village, Ali Abad district last night resulted in the killing of eight militants including their commander Juma Gul Hamdul," Wessel told Xinhua.
There were no casualties on non-combatants, he further emphasized.
Meantime, governor of the neighboring Chardara district Abdul Wahid Omarkhil said 12 militants were killed during the operation.
Taliban fighters who have challenged the Afghan and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
