Two soldiers serving with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed in separate bombings in Afghanistan, the alliance said Thursday, DPA reported.

One of the soldiers died in a roadside bombing in the eastern region on Thursday, while the second died Wednesday in a similar attack in the country's south, ISAF statements said.

The military did not disclose the nationalities of the deceased. Most of the soldiers stationed in the eastern region are from the United States, while the bulk of troops deployed to the volatile south are from Britain, Canada and the US.

More than 670 international soldiers have been killed in the Afghan war so far this year, the bloodiest since the ouster of the Taliban regime in late 2001.

Most of the foreign soldiers were killed by roadside bombs, the Taliban's favoured tactic in its nine-year-insurgency.

Around 150,000 NATO troops are currently stationed in the country.
