A gas blast injured 12 people Tuesday at a regional power plant in Russia's Tyumen region, a spokesman for the Urals regional emergencies center said, Xinhua reported.
Fire broke out at the premises where repairs were in progress at early hours Tuesday. It was extinguished one hour later, leaving no impact on the operation of the power plant, the spokesman said.
"Twelve people were burned and hospitalized. Five of them are in serious condition," the spokesman was quoted by Itar-Tass news agency as saying.
The accident might have been caused by violations of safety rules during repairs, a local police source said.
