Two explosions ripped through a military munitions depot near the Pakistani capital on Monday, injuring at least two security officials, police said, DPA reported.

The nature of the blasts at the depot about 20 kilometres south of Islamabad, was not clear.

The military refused to give any information about the incident while an official at the police control room said several people were believed to have been injured in the explosion.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the incident was not a terrorist act.

Witnesses said troops had sealed off the area and reporters were not allowed to go closer to the site of the explosion.

Clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the building as fire brigade vehicles heading towards it.
