NATO Secretary General’s mandate extended till 2014 (UPDATE)

The NATO Council extended the mandate of NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen till July 31, 2014, the organization said today, RIA Novosti reported.
"The allies will support Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in his work on the NATO tasks and missions on the basis of the allies' agreed decisions," a statement said.
Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was elected to the post of NATO Secretary General on April 4, 2009. The next day he resigned from the post of Danish Prime Minister. Only Turkey refused to support Rasmussen's candidacy approved by 27 NATO members.
