(ForUm) - The UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Mr. Juan Miguel PETIT pays a visit to Ukraine to discuss problems on child sale, prostitution and pornography and ways of their handling with the senior officials, lawyers, civil society representatives in Ukraine.
Mr. Petit met with the board of Ministry of Family, Youth and Sport, Ministry of Health Care, Ministry of Justice, General Prosecutor Office, the respective Committees of the Verlhovna Rada as well as representatives of judiciary, parliamentarians, UN officials, non-governmental organizations dealing with the protection of children, reports Trend.
The visit served to take stock of the measures the Government of Ukraine takes to raise public awareness on these issues; to ensure that the right of the victims of sexual exploitation and sale, to receive rehabilitation and help is fully respected. The Special Rapporteur discussed the ways the UN could render help and support to the government and non-governmental organizations to combat the issues of child sale, pornography and prostitution.
