Ukraine’s prime minister and EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy discuss possible ways to regulate political crisis
( ForUm ) - Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych held a telephone conversation with EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, "Cabinet press office" reported.
During their open and friendly conversation Viktor Yanukovych and Javier Solana discussed prospects for development of the political situation in Ukraine. The sides agreed that the only alternative for overcoming this crisis is searching of a compromise satisfying all sides.
Viktor Yanukovych has confirmed clear and principle position of the Government to adhere to the Constitution and laws of Ukraine and prevent conflict escalation. He has also eliminated completely a possibility of the use of force.
Javier Solana urged all sides to peaceful regulation and confirmed the EU position on necessity to return to the dialogue and handle a political decision with respect for people's rights.
According to Javier Solana, he has also stated the EU position during his conversation with President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko and intention to speak to Yulia Tymoshenko.
