Roadside blast kills six Afghan policemen

( Sky ) - Six Afghan policemen were killed when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle which was travelling as part of a convoy of US-led forces.

Police in AfghanistanThe incident happened on a dirt road in a district of Khost province, close to the border with Pakistan.

Police have sent additional troops to the area to conduct a search operation.

Violence has surged in Afghanistan in the past 18 months - the bloodiest period since US-led troops overthrew the Taliban's radical Islamic government.
