TOP 5 countries for labor migrants from Turkey

Turkish citizens mainly visited such countries as Germany, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq and Algeria to find work from January through October 2019, a source in the Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) told Trend on Nov. 18.

Turkish citizens most often left for Germany in search of work, according to the report.

The number of Turkish citizens who visited Germany via ISKUR to find work increased by 32.4 percent from January through October 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.

Some 2,100 Turkish citizens visited Germany via ISKUR during this period.

From January through October 2019, 1,800 Turkish citizens visited Saudi Arabia via ISKUR in search of work which is 12.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2018.

“Some 1,800 Turkish citizens visited Russia for the same purpose via ISKUR from January through October 2019 which is 27 percent less compared to the same period of 2018,” the source said.

“Iraq ranks fourth in the list of job search destinations,” the source said. “From January through October 2019, 1,300 Turkish citizens visited this country via ISKUR, which is 81.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2018,” the source said.

“From January through October 2019, 1,200 Turkish citizens visited Algeria for the same purpose via ISKUR which is 49.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2018,” the source said.

In October 2019, 144,800 citizens were provided with jobs through ISKUR in Turkey, which is 28.4 percent more compared to October 2018. Of those employed, 33.3 percent were women and 66.7 percent were men.

Some 99.6 percent out of the total number of those provided with jobs in October 2019 accounted for the private sector.

In October 2019, the number of unemployed in Turkey amounted to 4 million people, of which 50.6 percent were women and 49.4 percent were men.
