Turkish Airlines discloses passenger transportation figures for 2019

Turkish Airlines (THY) transported 74.3 million passengers in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the website of the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

In January last year, THY announced a plan to carry 80 million passengers - 33 million on domestic flights and 47 million on international flights, according to the report.

“In December 2019, 5.4 million passengers were carried by the airline, which is 0.5 percent (5.5 million) less than in the same period of 2018,” said the report. “The number of passengers decreased by 11.5 percent on domestic flights and increased by 7.7 percent on international flights.”

Passenger transportation by air in Turkey in 2019 (208.8 million passengers) was 0.8 percent less than in the same period of 2018.

Over the indicated period, the passenger flow on domestic airlines amounted to 100.1 million people, which is 11.3 percent less compared to the same period of 2018.

“Last year, 108.6 million people were carried by international flights, which is 11.4 percent more than in 2018,” the ministry said.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, a total of 84.8 million passengers were transported last year via three main Turkish airports - in Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya.
