Number of Turkish labor migrants to Turkmenistan down

The number of job seekers from Turkey in Turkmenistan decreased in January 2021, the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) told Trend.

“In the reporting month, the number of Turkish citizens who visited Turkmenistan through İŞKUR to find work dropped by 24 percent compared to the same month of 2020. In total, 19 Turkish citizens visited the country via İŞKUR over the reporting period,” the agency said.

At the same time, 730 Turkish citizens went abroad via İŞKUR, while a year earlier the number of Turkish citizens looking for job abroad was more by 59.1 percent.

“In Jan. 2021, 70,589 people were provided with jobs through this agency in Turkey. Some 33 percent of the total number of employed citizens accounted for women and 67 percent - for men,” the agency noted.

Over the reporting month, 99.5 percent of the total number of citizens provided with jobs in the private sector. The number of unemployed in Turkey amounted to over 2.91 million people, 47.5 percent of whom are women, and 52.5 percent - are men.
