The cargo turnover of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport amounted to 26,543 tons from January through February 2021, which is 57 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
"During this period, cargo turnover on domestic flights amounted to 16,220 tons, an annual decrease of 31 percent. Meanwhile, cargo turnover on international flights amounted to 10,323 tons, a decrease of 70 percent," said the ministry.
"The passenger traffic at the airport amounted to over 2.59 million people, which is a decrease 53 percent year on year. At the same time, passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 1.84 million people, a decrease of 43 percent), on international - 743,735 people (a decrease of 67 percent).
According to the ministry, the number of flights performed during the first two months of 2021 was 20,085, which is 45 percent less compared to the same period of 2020. At the same time, the number of flights performed on domestic lines was 12,961 (a decrease of 38 percent), on international lines - 7,124 (a decrease of 55 percent).
From January through February 2021, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to 10.6 million people, and the cargo turnover - 373,201 tons.
